About cliff Vacek...

Hello Fort Bend County Residents,

Cliff Vacek is a Fort Bend County native, born in Sugar Land, and has planted his roots in the community since childhood. He graduated from Needville High School, and earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas and the University of Houston. Following college, Vacek served his country in the Texas Army National Guard. When he completed his active duty, he returned to his alma mater, Needville High, and taught for two years.

Vacek began his extensive law career by attending night classes at the University of Houston while working full-time as a maintenance technician for the National Guard. He completed his legal studies, receiving the degree of Juris Doctor, and started a private law practice. His firm met with great success and grew to employ eighteen attorneys and fifty clerical staff members. He was also a managing partner of another firm that included five attorneys. In recognition of his deep knowledge and experience of the law, he was appointed judge in the 400th District Court of Fort Bend County.

In his time as judge in the 400th District Court -- over ten years before retirement -- Vacek presided over hundreds of criminal jury trials. He has made informed decisions about thousands of criminal pleas, search and arrest warrants, and grand jury subpoenas. In addition to these responsibilities, he has qualified and impaneled numerous grand juries, and instructed these juries on their duties and obligations.

He is still committed to justice and efficacy. About his plans for the office of District Attorney in Fort Bend County, he says, “The prosecution of criminal cases should be swift and vigorous, but fair. The system should be as efficient as possible. I will work with the judges to find ways to reduce the number of times cases are reset. This will result in the speedier disposition of cases and save the taxpayers money.”

Cliff Vacek is on the Republican ballot in the primary election, November 6. 2018, for District Attorney in Fort Bend County.
